Inspiration for this event came to Cindy after the loss of her beloved dog, Cookie.
She approached numerous celebrities both here and in the USA asking whether she could paint a portrait of their dog, to be sold for charity. The two charities which benefited were Battersea Dogs Home, July 1st 2001 and DOGNY, May 19th 2003, which was set up after the events of 9/11 to help homeless and ownerless dogs.
Cindy’s long-awaited exhibition of her series of Celebrity Flowers took place earlier this year (2006) in London. These unique flower portraits were each nominated and signed by an A-list celebrity and decorated with Swarovski crystals.
Art from the Heart
The late Professor Stan Smith, who nominated Cindy to join the Chelsea Arts Club, recognised the integrity in her work and the completeness of her own style, advising her never to take an art class. Instead she has spent the last decade producing wonderfully joyful canvases in acrylic and watercolour that make people smile.
